BodeLIMS users can reap the benefits of the completely user-configurable system.  The result is that each operation within the system is a customized product to meet any lab’s needs.  Bode Cellmark personnel will provide initial support and configuration for the system and laboratory personnel will have the opportunity to update their system at any time.  BodeLIMS is a dynamic system built to evolve with laboratory operations.

Through BodeLIMS, users can add methods together to create a workflow that matches any process and procedure in the lab.  This allows laboratories to update processes and procedures in BodeLIMS to match technology changes without having to implement a new software system.

Processing – BodeLIMS can be configured to offer necessary flexibility and rigidity within select methods and workflows, enabling the system to be valuable for both DNA databanking groups and DNA casework groups. The system can also adapt to rapidly changing technologies to easily match a lab’s processes and procedures.

Customized Roles – BodeLIMS allows administrators to customize user roles and access.    Permissions may be granted to view, edit, or access certain areas or fields throughout the system.  Group roles enable convenient management of roles and responsibilities of groups of personnel. Users’ activities are tracked throughout the system so that metrics can be reported on productivity levels and completed work.

Quality Control

BodeLIMS offers several layers of processing to help with quality control and accuracy in processing.

Barcodes – Accession cases and samples using existing barcode identifiers or customize BodeLIMS to create unique barcode values.

Witnesses – Customize and create documentation for witnesses, deck witnesses, final witnesses, transfer witnesses and tray witnesses as desired for forensic processing methods. Added security is made possible through password verification.

Sample and tray verification – These verifications may be applied to DNA processing methods for added quality checks.

Automatic calculations – Reagent volumes, dilution and normalization values can be customized for lab processes to help reduce errors during processing and increase efficiency.

Reagent lot numbers – System includes configuration of a quality-controlled reagent database to ensure only valid reagents are used for DNA processing.

Standardizing templates – Data output files are created by BodeLIMS and can be sent across a laboratory network to appropriate robotic stations.

Tray layouts and controls - For DNA analysis, accessioned and inventoried samples can be assigned to predefined tray layout templates, helping to maintain a consistent high throughput processing workflow.  Tray layouts can be defined and managed by BodeLIMS administrators.  The layouts can have tray wells reserved for samples or controls introduced during the processing of the samples in the lab for DNA profiles.  This not only streamlines setup in the lab for analysts, but also ensures that quality control checks are implemented automatically. 

Analysis data QC checks – Eleven customizable data quality checks may be applied to analysis for added quality assurance.  These include checks for analytical and stochastic thresholds, expected data values for amplification positives and other controls samples, mixture data, partial data, bi- and tri-allele values.
